Gap Year
After graduating high school a year early through the New Jersey 30 College Credits Program, I decided to take a gap year to continue to expand my horizons. The year will reflect the full extent of my curiosity, covering activism through both policy and direct service, as well as dedicated time for my creative endeavors during the Spring semester.
AmeriCorps Fellow Through College for Social Innovation
The first half of my gap year is taking place as an AmeriCorps fellow through College for Social Innovation. I am participating in the Semester in the City program, living independently in Boston while interning full time at a non-profit. During this period, I am receiving six hours of training per week on working in the social sector.
Work with Madison Park Development Corporation
I am interning at Madison Park Development Corporation as a Community Planning Fellow. Through that role, I am analyzing food insecurity in Lower Roxbury and creative effective communication tools for community members, and sharing food access resources. I am also developing a community-based short term and long term work plan to improve food equity in the area. This is all being done in accordance of the Mass in Motion grant, which created systems based and community driven solutions to barriers to health across Massachusetts.
